Collections...collections...

People often collect things they love and are passionate about. In this redesign, the homeowner collected clocks. By grouping them all together it created a meaningful vignette in their family room. The black clocks stand out against the red wall and create a feeling of significance and create a bold statement. The black pops in contrast to the red...fabulous!!!

Roll Out!... with Georgia on my mind...

Dewey Sadka and Julianna Hind

Color guru, Dewey Sadka (Dewey Color System,) and Design Expert, Margi Kyle (Desperate Designs,) recently rolled out a color consulting system for professionals. This has been 20 years in the making, and I am so excited to be a part of it! About 17 of us designer, decorator, and home staging instructors from across the United States and Canada were invited to "ramp-up" as instructors of the new Color Consultant training program. We met in Atlanta, Georgia -- now I always thought that Texas was the home of everything big -- but let me tell you, Atlanta does things up in a BIG way as well -- and the roll out of the Dewey Color Consultation was no different.

One of the highlights the Atlanta kick-off, was the first night dinner at Dewey's place, A gorgeous home near all the old-time mansions in Atlanta. Dewey's cook, Lilly made us an ever-so-delicious Turkey Meatloaf... YUM! I thought his place was great, and apparently, so did the Rap Musician Ludacris, who recently filmed scenes for a music video there, appropriately titled "Roll-Out" -- ha ha ha.., that was about the ONLY thing appropriate about the Ludacris video!
Not everyone has a balcony above their kitchen...

"Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou, Romeo?"

"I'm down here in the kitchen!...How do you want your eggs?"

Here is a snapshot of one of my favorite rooms... the "Blue Suite."

Of course, I am a huge fan of French Country... and the color blue!

I have returned now to the Pacific Northwest, and am excited be part of the Dewey color revolution! I think Dewey is a genius, and that he has done for color what Newton did for Physics. It goes way beyond what color goes with what... there is a definite science to the perception and relation of color... for more about the DCC certification course for Consultants, please visit http://www.wemakecoloreasy.com/ .

Color Classes

This is an example of what color can do!

Here, a client had all the peices of the "puzzle" for her child's room. We just picked out the colors for the walls, and pulled all their furniture and accessories together to make a fun, kid friendly safari room!

With this wintery weather, I'm so glad to have warm, cozy colors surrounding me in my house! I just want to turn the fire on (sadly, a flip of a switch for me) cozy up, read a book and go through my piles of magazines! I just wanted to let you know that Julianna and I are offering some free color classes at Sherwin Williams in the upcoming months. We can help you gain the confidence to pick out colors for your home or office. Our classes will be held at the Covington Sherwin Williams (253-639-2777) We'll be teaching how color defines mood, balance and theme. The greatest part...you can bring a "color inspiration" to class...a peice of art, fabric, food, clothing...anything...and we will help you choose a color based on your inspiration and show you how the Color to Go system works! Classes will be:

Thursday, March 29th from 6 - 7 p.m.
Saturday, March 31st from 10 - 11 a.m.

Wednesday, April 18 from 6 - 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 26th from 6 - 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 28th from 10 - 11 a.m.

Wednesday, May 9 from 6 - 7 p.m.

Hope to see you there!

2006 in Review!

(Pictured: Barbi accepts a Redesign Award from Lee Snijders)

We had a blast in 2006! It was a year of firsts, fantastic awards and recognitions, and a lot of SPINS!!! In February, I was nominated and elected to the IRIS Board of Directors, and represents the 800 plus members in the redesign industry who are members of the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists. Barbi and I both recieved redesign awards, which were presented to us by Lee Snijders from HGTV's Design on a Dime. With that momentum, we were interviewed by the Seattle PI and featured in their Home and Garden section, and continued to teach classes around the Puget Sound.

Premier Post!

Hi! Julianna here, and I am thrilled to share interesting happenings in our redesign business with you, as well as just good ‘ol fun stuff! Spring is an exciting time for Roomspinners… not only is it our busiest time, but we also gear up for our annual conference, which this year, is in Nashville, Tennessee.

January and brings a number of calls from both Realtors and Homeowners alike who desire professional staging for homes on the market. This spring the market has slowed, that is why staging is so important. It gives a home an edge in a competitive market. Our work doesn’t stop there, because homeowners are spring cleaning and beautifying their homes.

Here we show a beautiful dining area in a home that had lovely surroundings. We removed extra furnishings - some were located in other rooms of the home to help stage those areas. By opening up blinds to the beautiful outdoors, and bringing live plants into the living space, the best features of this home and it's location took center stage. This home in Covington Washington was a quick sell! (Realtor: Carmen Tomlinson, Remax Realty South)
